Not too long ago, the blog-to-book idea sprouted on the Web, encouraging writers of all ages and stages to try their hand at step-by-step book writing. Why, Blogger.com even has a Guide Page for those who dream of getting a book deal.
Now that blog-inspired books abound, awards and recognition are definitely afoot.
Make way for the Lulu Blooker Prize, ladies and gents. It's the world's first literary prize devoted to "blooks": books based on blogs or websites. It will give awards to three categories:
Prizes total $4,000:
• $2,000 to an overall winner
• $1,000 to the other category winners
The Lulu Blooker Prize is sponsored by Lulu, the world's fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books, including an increasing number of blooks.
Entry to the 2006 Lulu Blooker Prize is now closed. The short-list for each category will be announced March 6, 2006, and the winners will be announced April 3, 2006. Entry will soon reopen for the 2007 Blooker Prize.
